Our History & Heritage

Historical Background

The story of UPGS Punukkannoor began in 1926, when the institution started its journey with classes 1 and 2. As the educational needs of the community grew, the school continued to expand and develop over the years.

During 1958–59, the school received official recognition up to Class 5, marking an important milestone in its educational journey. Subsequently, during 1966–67, recognition was extended to Classes 6 and 7, and the institution was officially upgraded as an Upper Primary School. From these modest beginnings, the school has continued to grow while preserving the educational values and traditions that have shaped its identity.
